Greece, Italy, France, England, Spain and Romania; all European countries for which we’re already super familiar with the cuisine, it was only a couple of weeks ago we had a moussaka (thanks Rick Stein, excellent recipe). Trying something new that we had neither cooked nor tasted before was a bit of a feat which we sort of kind of accomplished. No matter, it was all delicious.
I don’t think you could ever completely recreate the Greek experience in England, they rely heavily on the freshest ingredients with the to die for ripeness you can only achieve with a shit load of sun. You can however have a pretty good stab at it, and just because it would taste a teeny bit better if you were sunning yourself by the sea it doesn’t mean that it isn’t still perfectly enjoyable on a wet, windy and cold December afternoon in London.
